National Pride

The U19 netball team gave it their all at the weekend playing in the National Netball Finals

The squad of ten competed against the best eighteen schools in the country at Whitby High School in Ellesmere Port. Having won the county and regional championships to get there, the finals took the standard of competition to a whole new level.

The first match proved to be the toughest of the day; a nervous start meant opportunities were squandered and the team narrowly lost to the eventual winners of the tournament Greenhead College. With the confidence low, the team lost their second match to Tunbridge Wells Girls Grammar School who also went on to win a medal. The girls regrouped and led by inspirational captain Ellie Newman stepped things up, winning all six of their remaining matches playing some breath-taking netball. The team finished third in their group, narrowly missing out on a place in the knockout stages.

The day finished with lots of smiles, all girls played throughout the day and should be extremely proud of all they have achieved.
