District cross country championships

Lots of medals in the sun

The annual district cross country championships took place on Friday 20th March at Presdales School. Despite the warm weather conditions Broxbourne fielded competitive teams in the minor, junior and inter age groups.

In the inter girls age group Year 10 pupil Grace Neville was the first Broxbourne runner home finishing in second place. With Hannah Booth finishing in third place the inter team which included Lauren Millar and Charlotte Quant were crowned district champions.

The junior boys’ team were equally as impressive in their age group with Rob Mottram finishing in 3rd place. Excellent individual performances from Simon Jones, Morgan Newman and Jake Ellis ensured the team were also crowned district champions.

In the other age groups Year 8 pupil Ellie Godsave finished in 2nd place in the junior girls category; the team comprised of Alara Norton, Eleanor Tuprin and Janaya Best narrowly finished runners-up by only two points. Both the minor boys and girls had a tough challenge over a long course and despite their best efforts both teams finished in second place.

Well done to all students involved.
