BROXBOURNE READS THE CARNEGIE SHORTLIST

Students and staff take part in the prestigious book awards' shadowing scheme.

32 pupils and 8 staff from The Broxbourne School are taking part in the CILIP Carnegie & Kate Greenaway Children’s Book Awards Shadowing Project.  The awards are the oldest and most prestigious children’s book awards in the UK.

Library Resource Director, Mrs Shaper, said “We are trying to read all of the shortlisted books and evaluating them against the official criteria.  The students are very enthusiastic and fiercely debate the merits of the books at our regular discussion meetings.  A clear favourite is yet to emerge.”

UPDATE JUNE 2015

The winners for both the CILIP Carnegie Medal and the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal was "Buffalo Soldier" by Tanya Landman.  The winner was announced on Monday 22nd June 2015  at The British Library in London.
