District Indoor Athletics Championships

Records fall and titles are won

Minor Girls Winners - Zarah Duignan, Emily Squires, Ela Norton, Ruby Olseen, Milie Mae-Harris, Chelise Flemming, Elena Davies

At the district indoor athletics championships Broxbourne School delivered some impressive performances, in addition to returning with several trophies. Six schools from across the district competed at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre in Pickets Lock.

Several records were broken by Broxbourne athletes including the following:

  • Janaya Best, Year 9 – Triple Jump 9.03 metres (previous record, 8.75 metres)
  • Elena Davies, Year 7 – 800m 2.54 minutes (previous record, 2.55 minutes)
  • Chelise Flemming, Year 7 – 200m 30.1 seconds (previous record, 30.1 seconds)
  • Alex Garcia, Year 7 – 800m 2.46 minutes (previous record 2.46 seconds)
  • Tom Kennedy, Year 11 – 60m 7.1 seconds (previous record 7.4 seconds)
  • Ruby Olseen, Year 7 – 60m Hurdles 10.7 seconds (previous record 11.1 seconds); long jump 3.94 metres (previous record 3.72 metres)

In addition to the record breakers there were a number of individual winners including, Ralph Davies (junior 800m), Hamlett Millard (inter 60m hurdles), Zac Mount (inter triple jump and 300m), Tom Kennedy (inter long jump), Tommy Carter (high jump), Janaya Best (junior 60m), Lauren Millar (inter 800m), Yasmin Grantham (inter 60m hurdles),

The overall results were extremely impressive:

  • Minor Boys – second place
  • Minor Girls – District Champions
  • Junior Boys – third place
  • Junior Girls – second place
  • Inter Boys – District Champions
  • Inter Girls – second place
  • Overall Boys – District Champions
  • Overall Girls – second place
