Leicester Netball Tour

Year 7 and 8

Forty pupils from Year 7 and 8, along with four sixth form sports leaders travelled to Leicester for the school’s annual netball tour. In its eleventh year, the tour was as fun and memorable as each one that had preceded it.

The tour was an excellent opportunity to reward the commitment shown by pupils to school netball. The tour started with a trip to the ever impressive Loughborough University where the girls’ had a chance to visit some of the incredible facilities available and see world class athletes in training. On the Friday afternoon all five teams had the pleasure of being coached by Tara St Clair, a coach of superleague netball team Loughborough Lightening. The girls’ finished off the session with a lovely mini tournament in the university’s netball centre.

The weekend also involved highly competitive matches against Nottingham Girls High School. The weather was kind and everyone enjoyed a fantastic morning of netball, the results are:

  • Year 8 A team – won 21-19 (player of the match – Elena Davies)
  • Year 8 B team – lost 12-13 (player of the match – Tamsin Crease)
  • Year 7 A team – won 33 – 7 (player of the match – Georgie Wood)
  • Year 7 B team – won 11 – 4 (player of the match – Ailey Anderson)
  • Year 7 C team – won 5 – 4 (player of the match – Evie Atkins)

In addition to the netball, the girls participated with great enthusiasm in an array of other activities: bowling, Planet Bounce, quasar and swimming.
