Model United Nations Conference
Broxbourne Team Shines at HMUN 2017
Team Broxbourne had its most successful MUN conference to date at Haileybury College last weekend. Fifteen of our students, ranging from Year 9 to 12, took on the roles of delegates from Somalia, Libya and Paraguay to discuss world issues alongside 700 students from eight countries. Arda Fettin, Noah Tucker, Dimitri Bakalis, Ellie Wilson and Fiona Tuite all lobbied well and got the required signatures to get their resolutions approved, which was a great effort. Over the weekend Jesse Santeng, Chloe Smith and Chantelle Edegbele focused on Human Rights issues, while Kenza Neza, Amy Phillips-Hall and Asena Tural took on questions about the environment. Diondrea Dennis and Daniella Massri tried to disarm the world, while Lina Khaled and Panashe Njanji considered social, economic and political problems. To top it all off Fiona Tuite not only asked a question in the General Assembly in front of 700 delegates but she was also awarded a ‘Highly Commended’ delegate award representing Somalia in her Human Rights committee.
