Netball

The U16 and U19 County netball championships took place at Stanborough School in Welwyn Garden City. A number of schools from across the county were competing to represent Hertfordshire in the regional championships in January.

The U19 age group involved four group games. The Broxbourne School team was made up entirely of Year 13 pupils, competing in the competition for the last time. All matches were competitive, with Broxbourne fighting out wins against all the opposition in their group: Parmiters 5 – 3; Simon Balle 5 – 3; St Albans School 9 – 5; Berkhamstead 8 – 6.

The team qualified for the semi-final, facing a strong and physical Goffs team. The game was extremely hard fought with Broxbourne edging to victory 7 – 4. The win in the semi-final ensured qualification for the regional championships for the first time since the team were in the U14 age group. In the final, St Albans High played some excellent netball, winning by 12 – 7, resulting in Broxbourne finishing runners-up.
