Billy attended The Broxbourne School from 2002 to 2009 and studied for A-levels in English Literature, Media and Drama before going on to Reading University where he gained a First for his BA in Film and Theatre. Billy is now Deputy Editor for Toy News and Licensing.biz.
The school provided and exceptionally positve environment for Billy and he says "The people made the school for me. The teachers helped to create an environment that brought out the best in everyone. whilst being approachable and passionate about their subjects. One of my English teachers helped hone the writing skills I'm using today, and my Drama teacher was inspirational."
Whilst at university, Billy began to write and make short films. His first job was with MCV (a video game publication) as a staff writer and he continues to write about movies in a freelance capacity. He was quickly promoted to Deputy Editor at Toy News and organises an annual Inventors Workshop event. His role also leads to lots of travel opportunities and he has attended fairs in London, Nuremberg and Los Angeles in the last year.
Journalism has opened other doors, too, and Billy has appeared on Technobabble (a tv gadget show for children), attended a variety of industry events and even has a potential cameo in the new Sooty movie!
Billy wholeheartedly recommends Broxbourne as a place to go to school: "It gives you the best chance of being successful in which ever field you choose, whilst learning in a passionate, fun but hard-working environment."
