Year 7 District Tournament
Four teams compete in the Year 7 district netball tournament
Over thirty-three girls’ from Year 7 represented Broxbourne School at the annual district netball tournament. Year 7 netball practice has been buzzing all year with over forty-five girls’ regularly attending the weekly practice. Weekday and Saturday fixtures ensured everyone who trained has represented the school since September.
The netball season finished with the annual tournament where over 18 schools from the district took part. The A team successfully put their training into practice as they dominated their group with wins over Haileybury, John Warner and Simon Balle. In the semi-final accurate shooting from Emily Lush and tight defending from Niamh Stevens ensured a comprehensive win over Presdales to book a place in the final. The final proved to be a tough match against local rivals Goffs; despite some great play from Ellie Oswick and Ellie Wood the team finished runners-up, losing 7-4.
The B team started just as well in the B team tournament; after playing five group games the B team qualified for the knockout stages without losing a game. A good semi-final win saw the girls take on St Mary’s B in the final. It was a very physical game, but Broxbourne held their nerve and finished overall winners.
Well done to everyone who took part in the tournament
