Going for Gold

Students brave sunshine and showers in pursuit of their Duke of Edinburgh Award

Mr Harvey (Duke of Edinburgh Award Co-ordinator) accompanied six Year 13 students on a spectacular trip to Snowdonia in May.

Sixth Formers Josh Whelan, Joshua Forsyth-Hecken, Simon Jones, Tom Hall, Christine Mayes and Sophia Pledger enjoyed a four-day walk through the stunning Welsh mountain range as they worked towards achieving their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Mr Harvey said of the trip “The weather was variable – some days it was really wet, and others beautiful, but the students worked brilliantly as a team.  Hopefully they learned something towards their award qualifier in July.”

Nearly 300 students at The Broxbourne School are currently undertaking either the Bronze or Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, which forms an important part of the extra-curricular activities on offer.
