Sports Day 2015
Hundreds participate in field events day
The first day of ‘Sports Day 2015’ got off to a colourful start with hundreds of students representing their house in the glorious sunshine. The first of two days which is packed with various athletic events brought together students from all year groups, generating an electric atmosphere.
Day one was filled with all the field events and a number of outstanding performances. Year 10 student Georgia Sargent was a highlight of the day, breaking a 19 year old record in the discus, with a throw of 24.81m.
In the Year 7 age group, the large number of participants made for highly competitive events, with winning performances from Noah Southwell in the long jump and Krystal Okine in the shot. In Year 8 Neive Baker and Chris Dunbar won both discus competitions, while Yasmin Grantham and Tommy Carter were clear winners in the Year 9/10 high jump competition.
There is lots to compete for on day two as the students take to the track and help determine who will win the Sports Day 2015 trophy. For more photographs from the field events please click here.
