Business Trip to Woburn

Year 10 students mix business with pleasure

Business Studies teacher, Mrs Bettles, recently accompanied Year 10 students on a working trip to Woburn Safari Park in Bedfordshire.

The purpose of the visit was to see marketing theory in practice at a real business.

Students had the opportunity to attend a talk on the marketing strategy of the safari park, and to carry out a survey to ascertain the quality of the safari experience.

Following the trip, GCSE students are completing a project to develop a successful marketing strategy for a new zoo in the Broxbourne area.   Mrs Bettles said the day was both enjoyable and useful, and that “The students will be able to make use of the ideas they heard on the day, along with their own knowledge from what they have learned in class.  The BTEC students will also be able to make use of the trip when they are developing a marketing plan for their own business ideas in the autumn term, when they have to write a business plan.”

The group were lucky enough to have a sunny day to enjoy seeing the animals, including tigers, bears and giraffes, and everyone laughed when the monkeys hitched their usual ride on our coaches!  The students also had some time to have fun on the wide variety of attractions at the park, including the boating lake and the drop slides.
