English Schools’ Championships

Pupils' compete in ESSA Championships

Three pupils from Broxbourne School travelled to Sunderland to represent the East Region swimming team at the English Schools Championships.

Nico Campbell, Amy Godsave and Morgan Newman were selected to be part of the squad of forty, based on their impressive performances throughout the season. With some of the best swimmers in the country participating competition was going to be of the highest standard.


  • Amy Godsave – Inter Girls 100m Freestyle, 2nd place, 58.50; Inter Girls 400m Freestyle Relay, 7th place 4:05.55
  • Morgan Newman – Inter Boys 100m Breaststroke, 5th place, 1:09.55
  • Nico Campbell – Senior Boys 100m Butterfly, 6th place, 58.47; Senior boys 400m Freestyle Relay – 3rd place, 3:33.39

All pupils have made outstanding progress this season. Year 10 pupil Amy Godsave is currently ranked 2nd in the country for the 50m freestyle, with a personal best of 26.57 seconds. Year 9 pupil Morgan Newman is ranked 1st in the country for the 50m breaststroke with a time of 26.57 seconds. Year 13 pupil Nico Campbell leaves the school this summer to accept a swimming scholarship in Florida.
