The Margot Shawyer Award
The Margot Shawyer Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Life of the School
This year, the Margot Shawyer Award was presented in memory of the school’s former Chair of Governors who died last May following illness. Margot first became a governor of the school in October 1996 and three years later was elected as Chair of the Governing Body; a role she carried out with great passion, pride and dedication. As a former parent, Margot was hugely ambitious for the school and she strived to ensure all pupils had access to the opportunities which would enable them to achieve their very best. Headteacher, Paula Humphreys said “Margot’s work as Chair of the Governing Body has, without question, impacted on the outcomes and lives of thousands of pupils. The countless initiatives Margot has supported and implemented will continue to benefit the whole school community for many years to come”. In her memory, the Margot Shawyer Award was presented to Charlotte Robinson (Year 13 student).
