Italian Study Visit to Urbania
In October we set off for our 9th study visit to the beautiful Italian town of Urbania.
This year the 25 students were accompanied by Miss Sondheimer, Mr Sheppard and Mrs Derbyshire-Wells. During the week long visit the students stayed with Italian families and took part in an exciting range of activities. Mornings were spent at the Scuola Italia where students completed three hours of language lessons every day in small groups, giving them the opportunity to practise and develop their language skills. The afternoons were filled with creative activities like cooking, ceramics, a treasure hunt and a guided tour of Urbino. The ceramics classes were fun and a great opportunity to make our own souvenirs – there were some very interesting plate designs! The cookery lesson at the beautiful Parco Ducale was a real hit and we all enjoyed the delicious results, gnocchi, polpettoni and crostata.
During the week we had a delicious outing to Perugia which was holding the annual Eurochocolate Festival! Many souvenirs were purchased (and eaten) that day. Another afternoon was spent discovering the town of Urbania through a Treasure Hunt and all teams were very competitive.
On Friday the students received Diplomas for all their hard work at the Scuola Italia and practised their language skills with a group of Italian students. The Scuola Italia teachers praised the efforts of all the students.
Grazie a Tutti - Arrivederci Italia!
