Bright future in netball!
A number of Broxbourne pupils braved the hot temperatures to attend the Mavericks Netball Development Squads screening day at the weekend. Over 220 young athletes attended the screening, hoping to be selected for the Hertfordshire based 2016 – 2017 development squads. Two squads were selected on the day – a Year 7/8 and a Year 9/10 squad.
With a staggering amount of talent on display, competition for places was extremely high. Six pupils from Broxbourne School stood out in both the skill sessions and game play to confirm their place in one of the two squads. The girls selected are:
- Chloe Lock – Year 7
- Ellie Oswick – Year 9
- Emily Squires – Year 8
- Amber Williams – Year 7
- Ellie Wood – Year 9
- Zoe Wood – Year 8
Selection for the squads is a fitting reward for their high level of commitment to both school and club. All six pupils have trained at school for the full academic year, in addition to training and playing regularly with Broxbourne’s link club – Turnford Netball Club.
Congratulations and well done to all Broxbourne pupils involved in the screening day.
