Sixth Form Open Evening
The Broxbourne School Dance Production 2017 proved to be an incredible display of talent, with a number of jaw dropping performances. The production this year was called ‘Take me to the Show’; all dances were inspired by famous stage and screen performances. The show celebrated a wonderful variety of dance styles including contemporary, theatrical, ballet, tap and street.
For the first time this year, there was a matinee performance at The Spotlight to our four main feeder primary schools The matinee performance had an audience of 250 who were extremely engaging and enthusiastic throughout. The evening performance was yet again to a sell-out audience, who were wowed by the extensive talent on display.
This year 170 pupils from Year 7 to Year 13 were involved, in addition to a number of pupils who helped backstage and in the lighting box. The majority of dances in the show were choreographed by the pupils themselves; a number of group dances were choreographed by students in Year 9 and above, which demonstrated the extensive number of confident young leaders we have throughout the school. Miss Georgia Willsmore has offered an extensive extra-curricular dance programme since September, which was has been extremely popular and added to the quality of the production.
The opening dance this year was choreographed by Year 13 pupil Ellis Chivers. The dance was a fantastic interpretation of ‘Alice’ from Alice in Wonderland and incorporated twenty-one pupils from Year 8 to Year 13. Ellis also performed two stunning solo pieces, one of which was her A-level tap routine. This was Ellis’s final year in the production; having watched her develop her own performance and choreography skills over the past seven years, it was a fitting reward to see her open and close the show.
Well done to all pupils who participate in the production. We look forward to 2018 when the production will be on Thursday 8th February!
For a selection of photographs will be coming soon.
