At the Herts County Schools Athletics Championships, five pupils represented Broxbourne School which took place at Jarman Park in Hemel Hempstead. The best athletes in the county were on display with a number of impressive performances.
Year 7 pupil Amber Clark produced two outstanding performances. Amber’s commitment and dedication to athletics this season was rewarded with two personal bests and two medals. In the discus Amber threw 21.86m to be crowned county champion. Amber threw 8.16m in the shot putt to finish runner up. Fellow Year 7 pupil Georgie Wood set a personal best in the 1500m, finishing 7th in the final with a time of 5.38.6 minutes. Talented athlete Davina Foster set a personal best in the 200m with a time of 29.9 seconds narrowly missing out on the final; Davina also finished in fourth place in the long jump with a leap of 4.24m.
Year 8 pupil Alex Garcia, narrowly missed out on personal best in the 800m with a time of 2.25.6 minutes. Year 10 pupil Heidi Bishop threw a personal best in the shot putt with a distance of 8.88m to finish in fourth place.
