U14 - 3rd Place
Last weekend The Broxbourne School competed in the U14 county netball championships, which were held at Stanborough School in Welwyn Garden City. Nineteen teams from across the county took part in the annual competition.
Broxbourne had a tough group, which involved eight highly competitive games. The morning started positively with convincing wins against Chancellors and St Mary’s. The only defeat in the group stages occurred when eventual winners Berkhamsted School took a 15 – 9 victory in the third match of the day. The team comprised of pupils from years 8 and 9 qualified for the semi-finals after winning their remaining five group matches.
The semi-final pitched Broxbourne against winners of the opposing group, Presdales. The match lived up to all expectations, with numerous turnovers by both defences. Despite superb play both defensively and in attack, Presdales took their chances and edged ahead to win 8 – 6. The girls’ showed great team spirit and camaraderie to lift their heads for the third/fourth playoff, beating St Albans High 9 – 8 after extra time.
Congratulations to all pupils who represented Broxbourne to finish in third place.
