The Music Department is launching a whole school sponsored ‘Practice-a thon’, to take place over the October half term and the following week. The aim is to get as many pupils as we can playing an instrument or singing at home, and to get sponsored for the time they manage to practice to help them engage with their Music.
Pupils who already have singing or instrumental lessons will find this an easy challenge, but we hope that they will enter into the spirit of it and aim to do more practice than they would normally. We really want to see the rest of the school also rising to the challenge and perhaps blowing the dust of their keyboard/guitar/ukulele/recorder and practising at home.
The event will also feed into the House system in school. The House with the most participants and minutes achieved over the two week period will win and all will achieve House Points to go into the total for the year. There will be a prize for the overall winner.
The Funds we raise will be split between Great Ormond Street Hospital and helping to fund our extensive Extra Curricular Music Programme (purchasing Mics, sheet music, stands, leads, reeds, strings, instruments etc). Sponsor forms have been sent home and all sponsorship money will need to be handed in to the Finance Office in a sealed envelope by Friday 16th November.
