County Swimming Championships
Four Broxbourne pupils represented the East Herts swimming team at the Secondary Schools County Swimming Gala on Friday 8th March. Emily Lush, Taylor Coe, Ela Norton and Harry Kent were selected to compete at the annual competition, which took place at Woodside pool in Watford.
Year 11 pupil Emily Lush swam in the senior girls’ category (Years 11/12/13), in the 50m freestyle and the 50m backstroke. Not only did Emily finish first in both events at the bottom of her age group but she also set a new Herts Schools Championship record in the 50m Freestyle.
Year 10 pupil Ela Norton was selected to represent the intermediate girls’ team (Years 9/10), in the 100m individual medley and the 50m breaststroke. Ela also came first in both events, emulating Emily’s achievements and setting a new Herts Schools Championship record in the 50m breaststroke.
Taylor Coe competed in the intermediate boys’ category (Years 9/10) in the 100m individual medley and the 50m butterfly. Taylor finished in 3rd place in both events.
Year 7 pupil Harry Kent competed in the Boys Junior 4 x 50m freestyle. Competing against pupils in Year 8, the relay team finished in 4th place with a time of 2:15.97.
