Sixth Form Open Evening
Friday 13th May 2019
The Broxbourne School will be running events in school in support of Mental Health Awareness Week, week beginning 13th May 2019. Various activities have been planned to take place during form times to help raise awareness amongst our pupils as to the ‘Five ways to mental wellbeing’. The five steps have been researched and developed by the New Economics Foundation and have been endorsed and employed by the NHS.
To finish off the week, we are holding a Bake Sale on Friday 17th May 2019 to help raise money for our two chosen charities:
The Mental Health Foundation, a charity dedicated to finding and addressing the sources of mental health problems. The money raised helps fund their research into mental health and the ways in which people can be supported to thrive through understanding, protecting and sustaining their own mental health.
Mind, a charity who provide advice and support to empower anyone experience a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.
To help support this event, we would gratefully receive any donations of baked goods that can be sold to staff and pupils on the day. Please can you also send your child to school with some cash to purchase items. These will be sold at break-time in the Upper School Canteen.
In addition to this, there will be a prize for the best home-baked cake; there are many talented bakers in the school, so we certainly hope to see some decadent masterpieces.
